Now on Tapastic!!

Hey friends!  I have committed to a web comic hosting site called Tapastic!  It's a great site to discover and subscribe to a wide variety of web comics for free!  My series is found here:  http://tapastic.com/series/Shelbyandtheblooms

I plan on posting colored pages of my self-published comics!  Click the above link to subscribe!

Let There Be COLOR!!!

Photoshop progress on page one.  The Fragonard painting on the right is used
for color reference.

Since completing the first chapter of the Shelby story and making it into a zine, I have decided I want to begin posting each page in full color on a web comic site.  As I pursue the next goal of writing the second chapter, I am also looking into getting the series professionally published.  In the meantime, I am considering using a webcomic site called Tapastic.com, because I really like their intuitive, simple design and dedicated community.  If you like comics, check it out.

23 new buttons almost ready!!!

I am finishing up 23 brand-spanking new button designs for my
students (and maybe etsy shoppers)!  They will be divided into two
sets.  (above, l to r: Breanna, Cupcake Wizard, Powerpuff Sophie,
and Wizard 6)

Anime Expohhh

I thought I would post some of the highlights of my first artist alley booth at Anime Expo!  Despite being one of the few fan art-free tables in the artist alley, I received a lot of support, and even some interest from animation industry people!  I offered mashup commissions of either Bubbr or Chubicorn, cosplaying as any character.  I also stopped some of my favorite cosplayers to snap a photo of them.  It was exhausting, but a lot of fun!

By the way, if you haven't already done so, follow me on Instagram @Chubicorn, and on Tumblr @jonsaintamant.  I post on those sites on a weekly, sometimes daily basis.  On this site, my posts are few and far between.

The Shelby origin comic is here!

After months of hard work and late nights, it's FINALLY ready!  This comic tells the story of how Shelby formed her band.  It is 21 pages long, and each page is highly detailed, and shaded with screen tones and grayscale.  I will debut it at this year's Anime Expo (July 3rd- 6th), then feature it on my etsy page.

3B Chibi-fied!

My current goal is to finish the Shelby and the Blooms origin comic by Anime Expo!  In the meantime, check out these prints I made for this past Saturday's Kawaiiland show.  Don't mind the copyright and name!

Upcoming Show at Kawaiiland!!!

I have been asked to showcase and sell my Shelby art and merch at the Kawaiiland show!!!  It is 21+, and $10 to get in.  It takes place in L.A. on Saturday, May 10th.  There will be a lot of artists, food vendors, music, and hundreds of kawaii people (girls).  Click here to buy tickets!!!

I am in the process of making some accessories that will make their BIG debut at the show!  I will also have various prints, buttons, and comics for sale.  (I apologize for the sideways image.  I couldn't figure our how to rotate it without my dear, loving Photoshop)

Cupcake Wizard's Lament

I tried a collage experiment showing Cupcake Wizard's inner thoughts.  I used cut paper, colored pencils, watercolors, markers, pencils and a pen.

Gender Flip! Now in Technicolor!

Starting clockwise with the drummer, we have Marly, Rollie, Mikey, Shane, and Breanna!

Shelby and the Blooms Gender Flip!

I've been working on a few things lately.  I will soon have three full-color posters available for purchase on my etsy shop!  They include: the original Blooms playing their instruments, this gender-flipped version, and a mashup of Cupcake Wizard and Sophie as Jabba the Hutt and Princess Leia, respectively.  Of course, the Shelby origin comic is still a work in progress.

This Year's Valentine Gram

Here is a Valentine card I made for my school's ASB/ Leadership program.  I might sell them on my etsy shop soon.

Shelby's High School Bully

This is Margaret, the arrogant and mean girl at Shelby's school.  She is shown next to Shelby for height comparison.  She plays a pivotal role in starting the Blooms band.  The Shelby origin comic is still a work in progress.

Shelby Origin Comic in the Works!

I'm working on a new zine/ comic that tells the story of how Shelby recruited the Blooms.  It takes place at a high school for bugs.  Stay tuned!

New K Pop band!

Since my show and festival booth, I've been catching up on video games (Skyrim), reading, and t.v. shows.  I have managed to find a little time to come up with a band for the bug side of the Shelby series.  They are a 3-member K-pop group, and they're bees.  Their group name is 3B.  Note how each of the girls' rooms matches their overall look and posture.

Possum Wizard, Chubicorn, and Valeria

Here are three of the five latest pieces I made for the Hive Gallery's Master Blasters show.  The other one was previously posted (Cupcake Wizard and Sophie), and the 5th one is a dead female ninja, which belongs here, on my Nowhereland blog.

Installation View

My work is up and ready for view/purchase!  The Master Blasters of Sculpture 5 show opens tomorrow (Saturday, November 9th) from 8pm until 11pm.  The show runs through the month of November.  Go to hivegallery.com to learn more!

This image shows two of the three walls I have on display.  I will post more later.

Master Blasters of Sculpture Show!

Hello,

This is the reason I haven't posted much lately.  I have been preparing for a big group sculpture show, to be held at the Hive Gallery next Saturday.  If you are in the L.A. are next Saturday (or any time through the month of November), check out my work!

Booth Merch!

Here they are!  These prints, zines, buttons, stickers, and a lot more will be available at the Walnut Family Festival this Saturday, Oct 12th!  Suzanne Park, Walnut, CA, 91789

Work in Progress

Hi fans!  I have been working really hard to get things ready for the local Family Festival.  It will be held at Suzanne Park (625 Suzanne Rd Walnut, CA 91789) on October 12th.  I think it starts at 8am, and goes until sundown. Anyway, I've posted a sneak peak of a brand new poster, to be available at the festival.

In other news, I have officially changed this blog url to shelbyandtheblooms.com.  You can still type in the old address and get here, but it's now a lot easier to remember without the added ".blogspot" part.  It also saves you time and energy!  Isn't that GREAT??!!!!!  You're welcome!!!!!
