Here are three of the five latest pieces I made for the Hive Gallery's Master Blasters show.  The other one was previously posted (Cupcake Wizard and Sophie), and the 5th one is a dead female ninja, which belongs here, on my Nowhereland blog.

This is the reason I haven't posted much lately.  I have been preparing for a big group sculpture show, to be held at the Hive Gallery next Saturday.  If you are in the L.A. are next Saturday (or any time through the month of November), check out my work!

Work in Progress

Hi fans!  I have been working really hard to get things ready for the local Family Festival.  It will be held at Suzanne Park (625 Suzanne Rd Walnut, CA 91789) on October 12th.  I think it starts at 8am, and goes until sundown. Anyway, I've posted a sneak peak of a brand new poster, to be available at the festival.

In other news, I have officially changed this blog url to shelbyandtheblooms.com.  You can still type in the old address and get here, but it's now a lot easier to remember without the added ".blogspot" part.  It also saves you time and energy!  Isn't that GREAT??!!!!!  You're welcome!!!!!

Latest Zine Progress

I know I've been quiet lately, but here is what I've been breaking my back over.  It is a 24-page zine with complete power stats on all 23 of my wizards.  I was technically finished a week ago, but I decided to try my hand at applying screen tones.  Each and every shaded part is an individually hand-cut piece of adhesive plastic.  As of this post, I am a little more than half way finished.

Chubicorn Makes Friends!

I went to the Anime Expo this past weekend.  If you ever go, bring a good camera; there are SO many great cosplays.  I was walking through the artist alley, introducing myself and handing out Chubicorn stickers, when I came across this AWESOME booth.  The artist's name is Shilin Huang, and she is the creator of the series, Carciphona.  You can see more of her work here.  Anyway, when I gave her the sticker, she was genuinely happy, and put it on her forehead!  The end.

Here is a study I tried based on John Teniel's 1886 print, "The Mad Tea Party".  Below mine is the original.

Valeria's Transformation

In the Valeria comic book/ zine, Valeria undergoes a dramatic transformation.  I colored this scene with copic markers and prismacolors.

Just some things I drew with my students on our last early out day.  Oh, yeah!  I finished my Valeria zine, so that will be available soon!  Now, if you look up at the top of this page to the title window, just under it you will see a menu bar.  I just recently added a fan art page.  Enjoy!

Student/ Teacher Collab

A student walked into my class and handed me his drawing of a nice, grassy countryside.  I asked if I could troll it, and he said I could, so- of course- I added some giant floating plankton.  

Valeria Progress

Progress is slow, but steady.  The mini-comic will be nine super-detailed pages telling the story of how Valeria became a necromancer.

Putu

This is a color study of Putu, a bat creature found in the Shellrim Depths.  He is usually more black in color, but this is an experiment.
