Cupcake Wizard's Lament

I tried a collage experiment showing Cupcake Wizard's inner thoughts.  I used cut paper, colored pencils, watercolors, markers, pencils and a pen.

Work in Progress

Hi fans!  I have been working really hard to get things ready for the local Family Festival.  It will be held at Suzanne Park (625 Suzanne Rd Walnut, CA 91789) on October 12th.  I think it starts at 8am, and goes until sundown. Anyway, I've posted a sneak peak of a brand new poster, to be available at the festival.

In other news, I have officially changed this blog url to shelbyandtheblooms.com.  You can still type in the old address and get here, but it's now a lot easier to remember without the added ".blogspot" part.  It also saves you time and energy!  Isn't that GREAT??!!!!!  You're welcome!!!!!

Latest Zine Progress

I know I've been quiet lately, but here is what I've been breaking my back over.  It is a 24-page zine with complete power stats on all 23 of my wizards.  I was technically finished a week ago, but I decided to try my hand at applying screen tones.  Each and every shaded part is an individually hand-cut piece of adhesive plastic.  As of this post, I am a little more than half way finished.

Valeria's Transformation

In the Valeria comic book/ zine, Valeria undergoes a dramatic transformation.  I colored this scene with copic markers and prismacolors.

Flora Transformation Study

This is Flora, the fairy queen of plants in Shellrim.  She is in the middle of becoming more plant-like.  Ink on paper (colored in Photoshop); 3.5" x 2.5"

Shy Dragon Summon

This is Bumpaduh shooting a Shy Dragon Summon out of his mouth.  The summon is virtually powerless, but it sure is CUTE!

Cupcake Wizard

This is Cupcake Wizard.  He is a sales rep at Magi-Car.  He often appears sullen and melancholy, because he is ashamed of his magic, which consists of cute things (chubby bunnies, duckies, happy stars, etc.).  He is secretly dating a fairy.  If his coworkers (who are other wizards) were to find out this secret, Cupcake Wizard would be banished.  Wizards and fairies often engage in battle in Shellrim.

The Pickle Wizard

I made this card for my friend's birthday.  The Pickle Wizard is grumpy, but he has a cool staff.  It's a jar of pickle juice that is very powerful.

Older Wizard Brother

I am currently working on artwork for an upcoming show at the PAS Gallery in Fullerton.  I will get back to Shelby and the Blooms during the first week in May.  For now, here is a field study page.  This is Little Twig Wizard's older brother.  Everyone calls him "Older Wizard Brother", but his real name is Bumpaduh.
