Meet a Wizard!

This is the first of the 3 Cave Face Wizards.  Stay tuned for the others!

Mindy's La Catrina Makeup

As Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos approaches, I thought it would be interesting to try a La Catrina  style on Mindy.

It's Here!

My etsy shop is ready!  Click here to check it out!  The selection is limited to four items for now.  There will be a lot more in the future.

Now on Facebook and Instagram!

So I've finally made a Facebook page for the series!  Look for this little Chubicorn image when you search "Shelby and the Blooms" on Facebook.  On Instagram, you can find me by the username, "Chubicorn."

More characters and comics to come!

Shy Dragon Summon

This is Bumpaduh shooting a Shy Dragon Summon out of his mouth.  The summon is virtually powerless, but it sure is CUTE!

Cupcake Wizard's Girlfriend

People have been asking what C. Wiz's girlfriend looks like.  This is what I have in mind.  Her name's Sophie, and she's a total ditz, but she has nice hair, so there's something.

Long Story About Two Buttons

So, I have a vending machine in my classroom that sells various handmade things to help raise money for the class supplies.  One of them sells buttons of my characters, and in every batch of buttons, I hide two bonus buttons.  One of the bonus buttons gave the winner a choice of two custom buttons.  The first winner was a 6th grade girl who at first requested two buttons that I had already made.  She later came back (after advice from a friend) and switched her order to these two requests: The entire Blooms band playing their instruments, and the fantasy offspring of Chubicorn and Donusis sitting in front of the entire map of Shellrim.  Keep in mind that these buttons are barely larger than a quarter.  So I made the requests (pictured above), and changed the bonus button rule so now the winner gets ONE custom button!

Cupcake Wizard

This is Cupcake Wizard.  He is a sales rep at Magi-Car.  He often appears sullen and melancholy, because he is ashamed of his magic, which consists of cute things (chubby bunnies, duckies, happy stars, etc.).  He is secretly dating a fairy.  If his coworkers (who are other wizards) were to find out this secret, Cupcake Wizard would be banished.  Wizards and fairies often engage in battle in Shellrim.

My First Zine!

I just finished making a zine (small, DIY magazine) about the significant characters who live in Shelby's shell (Shellrim).  Spanning 16 pages with a cardstock cover, the zine includes over 30 characters, with brief descriptions about each one!  Each zine also has an original drawing inside.  They will soon be available for purchase on my new Shelby and the Blooms etsy shop!

The Map of Shellrim

This is what the inside of Shelby's shell looks like.  It is where she goes on perilous journeys and encounters various creatures, wizards, fairies, dragons, monsters, and spirits.

Marty's Joke (Part 1)

The Pickle Wizard

I made this card for my friend's birthday.  The Pickle Wizard is grumpy, but he has a cool staff.  It's a jar of pickle juice that is very powerful.

Chubicorn Sighting!

Here is some video footage of Chubicorn jumping on my driveway.

Chubicorn likes to play fetch, but...

Older Wizard Brother

I am currently working on artwork for an upcoming show at the PAS Gallery in Fullerton.  I will get back to Shelby and the Blooms during the first week in May.  For now, here is a field study page.  This is Little Twig Wizard's older brother.  Everyone calls him "Older Wizard Brother", but his real name is Bumpaduh.

Character Lineup

This is my visual reference for main character scale, height, and color.

Shelby and DJ Rolly Field Studies

Here are some pages from my official "Shelby Fieldbook", where characters and stories are recorded.  These are facial expression studies for Shelby and DJ Rolly.

Little Twig Wizard

This is is my first animation!  This little wizard lives in Shelby's shell, in a magical forest.  His favorite food is deep-fried fairies.
